Root Canals

Root canal therapy is a very common procedure. It has a reputation of being undesirable and painful. But when done properly it is actually painless. Every tooth in your mouth is composed of a crown and a root. When a cavity or bacteria penetrates the tooth, the root and its nerves become irritated. As a result, the bacteria within the pulp cavity needs to be removed and cleaned in order to restore the tooth to its healthy state. Following the procedure, the tooth is fragile and consequently is restored with the natural crown for a lifetime of durability. Root canals have a success rate of 95% or greater. Most root canal are diagnosed by patients’ sensitivities to a specific tooth. Be sure to consult your dentist any symptoms or discomfort occur.

The Latest Techniques and Equipment used in Endodontics

Root canal therapy is a treatment that can stop pain and save your natural tooth. Due to common misperceptions, the term “root canal” can unnecessarily bring on anxiety, dread, and thoughts of pain. With modern dental techniques, this is not the case.

Dr. Joseph A. Narde uses the newest equipment for endodontic treatments at Willow Point Dental. Electric pulp testing and digital radiography are used in preparation for root canals to limit exposure to radiation.

Our practice also uses a process known as vertical condensation for root canals and implements ozone therapy to aid in eradication of bacteria from the tooth being treated. We perform root canals in our office on anterior teeth and premolars. Patients who require root canal therapy on molars are referred to a trusted endodontic specialist.
